Si c’est du chocolat, je vais le manger. I mean it.
Who doesn’t enjoy chocolate? Whether it’s plain white, milk, or dark, you’ll find that a lot of people love chocolate. When I was a young kid, I always looked forward to receiving balikbayan boxes filled with it or to Christmas morning when I can finally loot my stocking. I’m not really particular about the brand—be it the all-time favourite Toblerone, the classic Kisses, a Cadbury bar, a box of Godiva, exotic-flavoured Chuao, or gourmet truffles from SOMA. The only time I become particular about it is when I use it for cooking. If it doesn’t crack loudly, I tend to not use it. Of all the chocolates I’ve had, my personal favourite is dark chocolate-covered berries (or pretty much any dark chocolate). And the darker it is, the better. I always go for 72% cacao and up.
My friends ask me why I love dark chocolate when it’s bitter and, at times, sour. I always say I love it because it’s the closest to the colour and state of my soul. Kidding aside, the real reason is because white is too creamy and milk is too sweet for me. I find that dark chocolate goes well with fruit and other pairings. Plus it’s rich in antioxidants and has a lot of other health benefits if taken in moderation.
I tell people that whenever you consume chocolate, you’re not just eating it but experiencing it. So here’s to this year’s chocolate journey and to next year’s! Looking forward to experiencing more of it! #DAVIDsTEA #Christmas #tea #chocolate
