On Filipino Christmas
It really is the most wonderful time of the year! Growing up, I’ve always looked forward to Christmas. The lights, carols, and gifts would definitely make a child (and child-at-heart) excited for all the festivities.
I was lucky to have been raised in the Philippines where Christmas is celebrated starting from September until New Year’s Day (and sometimes even after). Malls and public spaces get decorated as soon as the -ber months start. People start putting up trees and parols (lanterns) to mark the start of the season. Even the evening news ends with the Christmas countdown. And don’t forget about Noche Buena (Christmas eve dinner). Whether you have quezo de bola and hamon or just a simple meal prepared with love for your family and friends, you’ll always feel that it’s the season of love and giving. Boy, I miss Paskong Pinoy. But we’re making do. 😄♥️🎅🏻
