Day 1. On HIV/AIDS

Day 1. 24 Days to go before Christmas.

On HIV/AIDS

Since its discovery in 1983, over 35 million lives have been taken by AIDS. Around 37 million are currently living with HIV, and the number continues to increase every single day. HIV is not only passed on through sexual intercourse. It can also be transmitted from a mother to a child. The first step towards a sustainable and hopefully permanent solution is awareness. Let’s educate the world about HIV/AIDS, and stop enforcing the stigma that comes with it. Living with HIV/AIDS doesn’t make a person deplorable or deserving of other people’s judgment. If anything, they should be getting the support that they need from the people around them. I know it’s easy to judge someone—to put labels and attach negative comments about someone’s personality—based on their HIV status. But it doesn’t have to be like this. We are but one people on this Earth. Why not just lift each other up and work towards a common goal—ending HIV/AIDS.

They say every generation is known for something. Let’s be the one to deliver an AIDS-free generation.

This is in support of the (RED) initiative and in solidarity with everyone we’ve lost to and are struggling with HIV/AIDS.
